This week we had a modest gain of $726

bringing YTD performance to

a nominal new high of $21,346.

We took a 100% Rule profit on MSFT and

a 50% Loss rule on the balance of the position on ABT.

 

The market had its first down week in over 2 months on a dramatically lighter volume.

Some of the big names in “teen” retail had very disappointing numbers and were taken to task.

Major losses in ANF, AEO, and URBN highlighted the group.  It wasn’t much better than the drop in COH last week.  The standouts were FOSL and KORS (both accessories, not apparel).

AAPL has to maintain support over $432 in order to maintain its uptrend (21% since the bottom 6/28).  The current pullback is both normal and expectable.

One stock, downgraded this week, is in my opinion, looking to be right at long-term support and has pulled back from a 30% premium over its 200 day MA to just 13% over.  It is also one of the biggest names (and most heavily weighted DJIA stocks).  IBM….currently oversold on both a weekly and daily basis.  Could it test the 11/14 low close of $185.28 or even the low from 7/12/12 @ $182 ?  It clearly can, but this is a name that can turn on a dime….
