There are three open Options Trading Strategies positions:
CLDX June 15 Calls
FB June 60 Puts and
KIRK July 20 Calls
Funds in Use = $1050
Gain for the week $ 198
There was another gain of $198
bringing YTD loss to a meager $97
Funds in use are $1,050, just about 10%
I pared down almost all positions at the end of the week but I just couldn’t leave well enough alone and added KIRK calls and FB puts in the last hour of trading.
The week was a study in cross-currents. Markets are driven by economic news:
Some better than expected while others had disappointments. However, none of it made any difference to the major indexes. My “fly in the ointment” concern is the AAII numbers with Bears at only 22%. This contrary indicator is the lowest reading I have seen in quite a while and I expect that based on Thursday / Friday action it’s probably well under 20, versus its historical 30% average.
It is difficult to quantify risk in a market that continues to march higher week after week but it is even tougher to stand aside as gains continue. Right now we have two longs and one short and frankly until I see a little sideways action I am not adding many new positions. FB has a great consolidation since its March decline but to me it looks tired. Fridays close is the lowest in the last 9 day sideways action and if we get a break here we will test $60-60.50. I’d be a buyer between $58-60.
At that point I would reverse and get long again.
But for today, we are as overbought as we were in March. In the last 15 trading days we are up for 12 and down for only 3. During that time we were up $87 net….EXTENDED is not in question. Taking short term gains on trading positions should be the order of the day.
