$10,000 Trading Account Traders Comments
We have 2 open positions:
NAT January 9.87 Calls and
STLD Dec 23 Calls
Funds in Use $ 735
Week 48 was a good gain by any measure. We made $1,160 on positions that really had no cost due to executions on the 100% Up Rule in week 47. YTD gains are now over 180% and if I didn’t enjoy what I do I’d probably shut down for the next 3 weeks…. and call it a good year. But I would be bored and I don’t care much for soap operas.
As mentioned here last week, “we should be expecting sharp, short rallies in both the gold and oil markets. Sure enough, the next day gold rallied from $1,141/oz. up to $1,220, but by weeks
end it was back to $1,190. Oil was similar with a rally from a low of $63.72 to $69.54, never moved higher and closed the week down @ $65.84. This is typical of any market, whether in stocks, options or tulip bulbs. If these continue to maintain their current level of volatility we will see even more of these sharp moves that cannot be sustained, until we see either some longer term consolidation or some surprise geo-political developments which change the overall perception of the markets.
This week I am especially intrigued by the chart of Facebook (FB). It looks to me as if we are setting up for another major move. Some may argue that the stock is up almost 52% YTD and any consolidation should include a test of the lows around $70 or even $64, but I disagree.
The current consolidation from the move from $62 in July and the close of the gap in October are all above the highs that we broke on the way to $81.16. We have seen this type of action in the past and resolution favors new highs, not lows. We own the stock a couple of dollars lower and have no options position, but we will rectify that early this week.
If you note on the next page, AAII numbers show a pretty big drop in bullish consensus from 52.2% bulls to just 42.7, however, the long term average is 39 so we are still on the high end.
Bearish consensus picked up 5.1 to reach 25.9, still below its long term value of 30.5. These are not really anything that I use as a decision making stat , but it’s something that I take into consideration when I feel we are seeing a change in sentiment.
While the seasonal bias is to the upside, it shouldn’t be taken as an absolute. Some of the December gains are just over 1%. The volatility of the market now has been giving 1.5% movement in a single day. This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t participate; it just needs to be viewed in the context of a market that can make that move in a day or two.
I will consider new trades that meet my risk profile and as hard as they’re been to find we will continue to try either the “right or right out” trades near support.
Have a great and profitable week.

Market Strategies Fundamentals
Both major leading indexes made a new all- time high. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 131 points or 0.7% to 17, 958.79, the 34th record high this year, while the S&P 500 reached a new all- time high of 2,079.46, while settling at its best close ever at 2,075.37. On Friday, the Labor Department reported nonfarm payrolls rising 321,000, way above expectations of 230,000. The average workweek rose to 34.6 hours, up from 34.5, where it was prior to the 2008 crisis.
New highs took place even with the disappointments from Mario Draghi, president of the European Central Bank, as they made gestures but took no positive action on quantitative easing. Europe’s economy has benefitted from the lower oil prices delaying their necessity for further stimulus. Had they come up with specific measures, the Dow would have easily catapulted through 18,000.
Despite the general assault on new highs, shares of many well-known retail names collapsed. They suffered poor top line numbers as well as terrible earnings results. Genesco ( GCO: $ 69.99 ) -$ 11.38 or 14%, earned just $1.28 well below expectations of $1.44. Big Lots ( BIG: $ 40 ) Fell more than 20% in a week on failed top line sales and a loss of $ 0.06/ share. Abercrombie & Fitch shares are down 38% since late August. The company lowered earnings expectations again expecting just $ 1.50 to $ 1.65/ share. Guess ( GES: $ 20.45 ) -$2.22 fell just short of 10% while Aeropostale ( $ 2.46 ) -$ 1.20 is off 29% in just a week.
There were of course beneficiaries of the lower oil prices:
O’Reilly Automotive gained 25%; Target added 18% this quarter; Costco is up 15% and Wal-Mart stores have risen 10% since September 30th.
Market Strategies Economic Data
Nonfarm Payrolls increased by 321,000 in November the biggest increase since January 2012 when 360,000 jobs were added. Private Payrolls increased by 314,000 in November after adding an upwardly revised 236,000 ( from 209,000 ) in October.
The consensus expected 228,000 new private jobs. The Unemployment Rate remained at 5.8% for a second consecutive month. Hourly Earnings jumped by 0.4% but did not adversely affect productivity which was up 2.3% for the quarter. The 10-year U.S. Treasury bond yield jumped 0.05% to 2.31% from 2.26%.
Productivity gains were still better although below those of the second quarter. Higher productivity helps to keep cost-push inflation pressures from rising wages in check. Over the long term, it is productivity gains that provide the increase in output that have led to the consistent gains in living standards in free market economies.

Southern ITS (SITS: $ 0.11 )*
Southern ITS delivers proprietary innovative electronic security systems to highly regulated market sectors. Such installations include Gaming Properties, Medical Marijuana (MMJ) dispensaries and similar businesses with high compliance mandates.
Their systems go beyond simple security and are designed to support their clients in dealing with the expanding burden of compliance and financial auditing. Greeniosk is complete system that allows Medical Marijuana (MMJ) Dispensaries and Recreational Marijuana (MJ) Dispensaries to document and provide an audit and verification trail of each individual MMJ/MJ dispensary transaction.
The majority of MMJ Dispensaries have limited bank service access mainly due to requirements of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO). The Greeniosk system incorporates a large physical ATM Kiosk, with a state of the art CRM reporting system that provides a detailed financial transaction audit trail and addresses and resolves issues of the propriety of the dispensary operations. MMJ Dispensaries currently transact between $250,000 and $5,000,000 in annual revenues.
The majority consist of cash transactions, however small numbers of dispensaries accept debit card payments. Because RICO concerns cause the majority of banks to decline dispensary deposits, they also miss out on potential MMJ credit card transactions.

The sixth year of the presidential cycle has performed as expected and now should consolidate into Mid- December prior to a strong rally at year end which will take the averages to new all- time highs about 2 % higher than where they are currently..
The top five sectors this quarter were: Semiconductors (+6.7%), Software (+5.0%), Technology (+5.0%), Consumer (+4.9%) and Healthcare (+3.2%). Market Vectors Semiconductor (SMH) gained 8.0% in November, good enough for the fifth best, non-leveraged ETF performance in the 1-Month winners list. This gain was surpassed by SPDR S&P Transportation (XTN) up 8.7%, Market Vectors Retail (RTH) up 9.0%, Market Vectors China A-Shares (PEK) plus 11.1% and Global X Uranium (URA), climbing 11.9%.
Of the seven sectors that declined in November, Energy was the worst, off 8.7%.The majority of the declines were directly attributed to the decline in crude oil last month, especially on the last two days of November when OPEC did not trim production. United States Brent Oil (BNO) was the biggest loser, declining 17.9% in November and 35.8% over the past twelve months. As a result, all ten of the biggest 1-Month losers were either from the energy sector or directly related to crude. Global X MSCI Colombia (GXG) shed 16.2% as Columbia is a net exporter of crude and many of First Trust ISE-Revere Natural Gas (FCG) holdings are also directly exposed to the price crude oil. Crude oil remains seasonally weak through at least mid-December, but weakness could persist into February before a final low is reached.
New 52-Week Highs climbed modestly higher in November as major indices reached new highs while New 52-Week Lows shrunk slightly. Of the 281 New Highs, 250 were recorded during the last week of trading in November. Excluding Energy, Bear/Short and Natural Resources/Gold, New Highs were produced in all other sectors. New Lows were comprised mostly of gold and precious metals related funds early in November while later in the month, Energy and Bear/Short funds dominated. In short, this month’s ETF Scoreboard offers no evidence that the stock bull market is near its end yet.
